This past year has been another busy and suc-
cessful year for Lake Champlain Access Television. As
we head into 2005, we anticipate several changes de-
signed to ensure your community cable television sta-
tion remains out front of community expectations and
up to date with technology.
One heart-warming change for the Board of Di-
rectors has been the return of our Treasurer, Don Al-
derman, following his extended, many months’ hospitalization and long
convalescence.
During the late summer and early Fall of 2004, the Board began plan-
ning and preparation for beginning contract negotiations with Adelphia
Communications, who administer funding and provide technical assistance
in support of your station.
For the past 2-3 years the Board has experienced limited membership
from our three subscriber communities and, in 2004, we have experienced
changes in our membership with the addition of members from Colchester
and Georgia.
Some changes have occurred as well in terms of Board officers: Sam
Conant (Colchester) accepted the invitation to serve as President, and Eric
Hadd (Georgia) agreed to fill the Vice President’s role. Kary Town (Milton)
remains as Secretary, and Don Alderman (Milton) will continue as Treas-
urer.
During the latter months of 2004, the Board began to discuss and
plan for expansion. In 2003, we committed to planning for the addition of a
third channel so that the station would be able to fulfill the commitment to
provide more comprehensive Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG)
programming for Colchester, Georgia and Milton. In 2004, the Board ac-
knowledged a need for and committed to expanding geographically with al-
ternative studio sites in both Georgia and Milton. Toward that end, the
Board committed sufficient funds to a development fund which will be used
to purchase additional equipment which can be housed in community loca-
tions. Board members from Georgia and Milton are exploring siting possi-
bilities in those communities, and the station believes we can accomplish
this expansion goal by the end of 2005 or sooner:
By creating these additional sites and equipment resources, Lake
Champlain Access Television will have accomplished a significant goal
of PEG community television. Resources will be more available in
each of our subscribing communities.
